New UAE visa rules for sponsoring a son over the age of 18

New visa regulations that will enable parents residing in the UAE to sponsor their sons up to the age of 25 will go into effect on September 5.

According to the new law, boys can only be sponsored by their parents up to the age of 18, after which the sponsorship is valid for three more years as long as the sons are enrolled in college.

The new rule also applies to unmarried daughters and children with disabilities, who can apply for a residency permit regardless of their age.

Cabinet Decision No. 65 for 2022 allowed the regulation changes in April.

The residence of the son or daughter shall be for the same period of time as the residence of the parents.

The parents who are residents must provide housing for the kids in order to sponsor them. The authorization should be accompanied by an authenticated copy of the leasing agreement and a pay certificate, in accordance with the terms of Article 55 of the Executive Regularization

The child’s birth certificate has to include the names of the sponsors’ parents as well.

If the kid stays outside of the UAE for 180 days, this admission and the foreigner’s residency will no longer be valid.

Dependents have 30 days after the expiration or cancellation of their visa to apply for a new residence permit. The dependents would be considered unlawful residents and may be required to pay a fee if the employee didn’t renew or cancel their visa.

The sponsor can submit an online application for his or her child’s residence through the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security for all other emirates, or through the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) in Dubai.

To apply for a residency permit for their children, applicants can also go to the local Amer center or typing center.
