Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed attends G20 Summit calls for international cooperation on Palestinian issues

President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan participated in the virtual G20 Leaders’ Summit, hosted by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. 

The summit aimed to assess progress towards G20 objectives set during the 18th G20 Summit in New Delhi. Sheikh Mohamed highlighted the G20’s focus on climate change, as outlined in the G20 New Delhi Leaders’ Declaration, which includes efforts to triple global renewable energy capacity by 2030, advocate for low-cost climate financing for developing countries, and establish a global biofuels alliance. 

Sheikh Mohamed emphasized the importance of these initiatives in addressing climate change at the upcoming UN Climate Change Conference (COP28). He expressed eagerness to welcome participants to COP28 in the UAE and commended Modi’s efforts during the Indian G20 Presidency to address global challenges. 

Sheikh Mohamed also addressed the severe situation in Palestinian territories, calling for urgent international action to achieve a ceasefire, protect civilians in Gaza, and ensure the unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid. 

He stressed the G20’s significant responsibility in working towards peace, stability, development, and coexistence in the region.
