Dubai: Beginning July 1, all expat working for government must participate in a savings plan

According to the statement of a senior official, all expats working with the Dubai government will have to be enrolled in the savings scheme DEWS by their employers starting July 1, 2022.

Dubai International Financial Centre Employee Workplace Savings (DEWS) was the committee that conceptualized the program. It was first launched in March 2022 and targets expatriates in government agencies in Dubai in its first stage.

It will expand its implementation in later stages. This scheme aims to attract talented and skillful individuals by providing an integrated system that can offer various saving opportunities.

DEWS are benefits that will replace the existing end-of-service gratuity regime and still constitute a benefit payable to the employee by the employer; thus, no deductions from an employee’s compensation.
